The idea

Guernsey is full of people who know fascinating things: about the sea, the law, the past, the brain, the stars, the state of the world. Most of them never get asked to talk about it outside their day job, and most of us would happily listen if it didn't involve a conference badge.

So Think & Drink puts the two together. Short, engaging talks by people who really know their subject, given somewhere comfortable rather than a lecture hall. No jargon and no homework: the expertise stays up front with the speakers, and the rest of us just bring the curiosity.

How the night runs

  1. 7:30pm

    Talks start

A few short ones, back to back. Plain English, no slides for the sake of slides.

  2. In between

    Questions, and a refill

Put your hand up or save it for later. Either is fine, nobody is marking you.

  3. 9:30pm

    We wrap up

That is the official bit done. The bar carries on, and so does the conversation.

The venue moves. We meet on the last Tuesday of every month somewhere around St Peter Port. The launch night is at the Golden Lion, and after that it moves about, so always check the events page before you set off.

Entry is free. Tickets go out on Eventbrite ahead of each night so we know roughly how many chairs to find.

Who's behind it

Think & Drink is run by Segment, a marketing and design studio based in Guernsey. We spend our days helping local organisations tell their stories, and this is our way of giving the island's best stories a stage of their own.

Questions, ideas and speaker tips are always welcome at sophie@segment.gg.

Back the night

Keeping the night free takes a bit of doing. Think & Drink runs on curiosity and the generosity of local organisations that want good ideas flowing on the island. If that sounds like yours, the founding rates are deliberately friendly.
